Ski~Mojo è un accessorio per gli sciatori, basato su una tecnologia semplice ed efficace. Il principio consiste nell’affiancare alle nostre gambe un esoscheletro che trasferisca i carichi dal bacino direttamente sullo scarpone, riducendo la pressione sulle ginocchia e l’attivazione muscolare delle gambe.
Durante la pratica dello sci le nostre gambe devono sopportare carichi superiori rispetto alla quotidianità e le ginocchia di uno sciatore, oltre che contrastare questi carichi, sono chiamate a supportare una serie di movimenti per mettere in pratica la tecnica sciistica.
Ski~Mojo immagazzina tramite una molla l’energia cinetica durante la fase di piegamento del ginocchio e rilascia questa energia durante la fase di estensione, aggiungendo potenza ai quadricipiti e alleviando gli sforzi al ginocchio fino a circa il 30%. La conseguenza è che Ski~Mojo diminuisce la fatica muscolare e riduce sensibilmente i dolori alle gambe e alle ginocchia.
Se la potenza muscolare richiesta è ridotta, la durata dello sforzo aumenterà. I quadricipiti lavoreranno più a lungo (3–4 volte) con un’intensità inferiore di circa il 35%. I muscoli ischiocrurali lavoreranno più intensamente (circa 10%), più a lungo e i legamenti saranno meglio protetti.
Ski~Mojo è un attrezzo che consente di anticipare il rientro in pista a chi ha subito un infortunio al ginocchio, ma in generale può essere visto come un’arma segreta per gli sciatori, permettendo di ridurre dello 30% gli sforzi e quindi di aumentare proporzionalmente la resistenza fisica. Nel video dimostrativo Paolo Malfatto ha indossato l’attrezzo sopra la tuta da sci per mostrarne le potenzialità, ma normalmente viene montato sotto la tuta, risultando invisibile.
Dal suo lancio, nel 2007, Ski~Mojo ha subito alcune modifiche per migliorarne l’indossabilità e la praticità d’uso, ed è oggi uno strumento completo, diffusissimo in molti Paesi europei.
